Labrador Retriever - Raleigh - Large - Senior - Male - Dog
The following description comes from him family who is giving him up.
Raleigh was born in June 2003 and came to live with us on Labor Day weekend as a 12-week old puppy. He is now a 70-lb. black lab mix. His mother was a black lab, and his father was a shepherd/border collie mix. He came from a litter of eight puppies. Raleigh is named after the 16 years we lived in North Carolina. He is smart and incredible with children. Even though Raleigh is 8 years old, he still thinks hes big puppy. He loves to be outside and to play. Hes not aggressive and only barks when the doorbell rings or when he plays. He was housed-trained within three months of coming to live with us. We have not been great at training him, but that is our fault, not his. His door skills need some work, and he would definitely benefit from regular exercise and training. He was kenneled early on, but has not been for several years. He loves to sleep with the kids. He hates to be alone, and since our children have all left for college, and I have started working part time, Raleigh is alone way too often. He doesnt like storms or wind, like a lot of dogs, but if he is with the family, hes fine. He is the definition of a family dog. Hes in great health and all his shots and vaccinations are up to date. He has been spayed. Vet records can be provided. We have everything a family would need to adopt him to their home. He would make a great member of an active familyone thats at home. Its really hard to let him go, but we know he will be happier.
Guardian Angel Animal Rescue's standard adoption fee is $175, or $225 for puppies with $50 returned upon proof of spay/neuter.
Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.
We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.gaar.petfinder.com for the dates of our next adoption events. With few exceptions, we show our adoptable animals on Saturdays at the at the Commerce Petsmart on the West side of Haggerty just North of 14 Mile Rd. from 1:00pm to 3:30pm.
Appointments outside of our Weekend events to visit our dogs may be available after an application has been filled out, and processing has begun.
