Meet Mia!
Mia spent the first seven years of her life as a pampered pooch of a wonderful lady who was forced to give her up when she had to move to an assisted living facility due to disability. Mia is a very calm sweet gal who absolutely loves to be pet, scratched, and fawned over. She knows how to sit, lay down, shake with both paws and to come. She is almost there with sit pretty too. She is not a jumper, she gets excited when you come home and greets you excitedly by rubbing up against you begging for belly rubs. She is a licker though! And that is how she shows she is appreciative of your affection. She has not had one accident and goes outside no problem. From her past we know that she picks and chooses her doggy friends, so a slow introduction and constant observation would be needed. She gets along very well with cats. She enjoys treats, bones, and squeeky toys. Mia would be great as an only child in a non-active home, she enjoys lounging, but will be active when you want to be. She loves looking out the car windows during a car ride and she is a joy to have in our home.
Mia likes to grab laundry out of the laundry basket and towels from towel hooks in order to make a bed that smells like her owners. That is her quirk and we love it! It is very endearing. She has no problem walking by dogs that are barking, or other people. She puts her nose to the ground and sniffs enjoying the sights and sounds of the neighborhood, she is a great walking partner! She does bark at dogs when she is at home, she is a good guard dog and lets you know when people or animals are outside her home. She barks at people coming to the door but as soon as they come inside and she understands that you want them there she begs for their attention. She is leery of new people and only needs a little bit of time to trust and some treats to win her over. I think she was not socialized that well in her previous home, but once she trusts you - she loves you! Mia LOVES being outside, she will lounge in the backyard all day if you let her, sleeping in the sun, watching the squirrels and enjoying life.
Mia gets a little worked up around a lot of people and dogs, as we had her at an adoption event and she got very nervous. She definitely likes to be out and about but in a more controlled environment. She LOVES walking, we have to spell W-A-L-K when we are talking about it because she will perk up and run up to her leash hanging on the hook and nudge it with her nose until you give in and take her on a walk. So now we use the word stroll. :) She is being walked with a Gentle Leader and is an angel on it, no problems what-so-ever. She loves to be where her people are, we were gardening for hours and she easily layed down next to us and enjoyed the outdoors. Mia would love a family to call her own, won't you consider her to join yours?
Please contact Kristin, Mia's foster mom, with any additional questions about Mia at [email removed]. Thank you!
Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all dogs before adoption. AVID Microchips are implanted between the dog's shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the dog is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Dogs MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our dogs back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog.
The petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs
