    • American Staffordshire Terrier - Houston-foster Me! - Large

Hi, my name is Houston and I could sure use some help. First, before I go into my story you need to know that I am a loving dog with many good qualities. I love to play fetch and I can easily catch the ball in mid-air (those air dogs have nothing on me; I have perfected the jump with poise and coordination). I'll even run on a treadmill on super cold days! My people also tell me often that I am the class clown. Really, how was I supposed to know that the bird bath is for birds not me, that the wheelbarrow was for moving dirt and not to cart me around the yard, or the recliner is for people not for me to relax in after a hard play time. I also get along with other dogs but I can be a little overzealous at times so I would do best in a home without children.

Now for my story. I have been living in a kennel for a long time because there just aren't enough foster homes, and as a result I have become institutionalized and overly possessive of my toys. I would love to become a special somebody's dog but at this point I would have a very difficult time making the transition from kennel living to home living. My people have come up with a plan to help me but I am in between the proverbial "rock and a hard place". I have found a place that does doggie rehab which will reteach me how to live in a home but it won't do me any good to go through rehab if I don't have a home to go to once I have completed my rehabilitation. If you are that special someone who would be willing to take me into your home and give me the patience, love, and guidance that I so deserve please talk to my people. This is the first time my people are trying this approach so we can all be stars when I make a successful move to your home!!

      Thanks so much!

Ask yourself some questions before you consider bringing a new dog home.

      1. Am I ready for a LIFE LONG commitment?

      2. Am I prepared for a roudy puppy?

      3. Am I prepared to potty train?

      4. Is this the right breed for me or my family?

      5. Can I afford the food and vet care for this dog?
      6. Is it best to have a totally fenced yard?

      7. Will I make a commitment to obedience training?
