      Looking for an eye catching boat for the cottage? Here’s a beautiful 1955 Lone Star Admiral. It’s a 14 ft aluminum boat, perfect for a nice ride around a quiet lake.

      I found this boat in Chicago, where it had been sitting on the trailer, under trees in a backyard for twenty years! It had bushes growing out of the cockpits, and had been painted an ugly blue color with a brush! The trailer was covered in rust, and the 8 inch tires had rotted away. Fortunately, the owner had stored the original cushions in the rafters of the garage, and they were in PERFECT condition!

      I put it all in a 24’ box truck, and brought it home to Michigan, where I started the restoration. I did the trailer first – completely sand-blasted and powder coat painted white. It then got re-wired, all new hardware, and a new set of 12 inch tires and wheels. I even restored a 1955 Michigan trailer license plate.

      The boat was next. The hull was bead-blasted with plastic pellets, and a new transom was made of marine plywood and gel-coated. Then the entire boat - inside and out - was powder coat painted fire engine red. I re-chromed all of the fittings, had new windshields made, and installed a brand new (2001) 25 HP merc outboard with Teleflex steering. It has remote start and hydraulic tilt. Everything is controlled from the middle cockpit dash that includes a compass, tachometer, hour meter (740 hrs), depth sounder / fish finder, and switches for lights and bilge pump.

      I entered the boat in two antique boat shows. The first one was a small classic car and boat show where it won “Peoples Choice”, and the second one was an ACBS sponsored International Boat Show, where it took first place.

      Along with the boat, there will be plenty of extras included – including the original cushions, TWO - 6 gallon tanks, an anchor, life jackets, etc, as seen in the pictures. The hat and award plaque are NOT included in this auction.

      I also have a very extensive "library" of Lone Star literature including catalogs, price lists, bills of sale, original photos (proofs), and miscellaneous memorabilia like the Lone Star hat seen in the picture above. All of that will be in a seperate auction.
